Mixed / decent 1st half for Tollywood in 2023. One side there are blockbusters but on other side huge distributor losses. But many small budget films had good success at Boxoffice.

January started with a bang by both top stars Megastar Chiranjeevi & Balakrishna with their respective films Waltair Veerayya & Veera Simha Reddy - with former emerging as Blockbuster & latter just HIT at box office.

Febraury apart from Writer Padmabhushan was very bad with films like Amigos & hugely promoted films like Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha failing at box office. But relief for dstributors in Feb was bilingual SIR / Vaathi which minted money & profits in Telugu states

March started slowly but the biggest suprise HIT film of decade Balagam with very minimal budget had minted huge money purely based on audience WOM with no false hyped promotions. After january, march is best month has it saw two more HITS - Das ka dhamki & month end release Dasara

April had so far the worst start with all big films like Ravanasura, Shaakuntalam & month end release Agent failing miserably at box office. But Virupaksha gave relief to theatre owners with blockbuster collections.

May started similar to april but ended up worse than April has there 0 HITS in may except dubbed film Bichagadu 2 & also the malayalam film 2018movie

June had some highly promoted films but nothing made sound at box office even with extension of summer holidays & huge online promotions. But the month end release Samajavaragamana which started slowly at Boxoffice is now picking up rapidly & moving towards blockbuster status even with minimal screens provided to it

Even though there are good amount of blockbusters, but films like Adipurush, Agent, Custody, Shaakuntalam, Ravanasura etc. had incurred huge losses to distributors - for some the loss is equal to some big scale film budget & some have joined the list of All time record loss movies.

This has diminished the success value of 1st half & its better to talk less about the falsely hyped HITS like VBVK, Mem famous etc.
So 2023 1st 6 months can be considered as Decent & also the 2nd most succesful industry in India behind Kollywood so far in 2023.
